Policy for the Utilization of Water Resources

The Company does not engage in business in regions facing high water stress, as defined in the World Resource Institute's (WRI's)* Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas. We recognize that the conservation and efficient utilization of water resources mitigates adverse impacts on the environment while contributing to compliance with wastewater-related regulations, such as the Water Pollution Prevention Act, and local ordinances, and to reducing running costs. Based on this recognition, the Company will appropriately understand and manage the water consumption status of owned properties, and work to ensure the sustainable utilization of water resources through the implementation of various water conservation measures.

Strategy

Introducing water-saving equipment

We have been working to reduce water consumption as well as improve comfort by updating equipment in water-related areas, such as toilets, in our properties one after another.

Rainwater infiltration and groundwater preservation

To protect groundwater by preventing large amounts of rainwater from flowing into rivers and the ocean at the same time, we use techniques to infiltrate rainwater into the ground, such as permeable pavement in building exteriors, sidewalks, parking lots and other areas.

Water risks

We use Aqueduct, a water risk evaluation tool provided by WRI, to evaluate the water risk and water stress of our properties. Currently, we do not conduct businesses in areas where the water risk is classified as high or above. However, we will regularly monitor water risk for the areas where our buildings are located and the water consumption in individual buildings.
